I’ve been thinking for a while about what to do for J for his second ever Father’s Day. In coming up with inspiration, I realized I kept thinking about what I would want. My friend told me that before Mother’s Day she laid out a clear list of what she desired for the day from her husband (down to the items she wanted from a nearby cafe for breakfast). Part of me was listening thinking “whoa” and the other part of me was thinking “genius!” Why not take out the guesswork? So, even though I love surprises and surprising, I asked J what he was hoping for. Classic him, he said he was really hoping for some time to work in the yard and on some of his music. So, I’m going to make this happen by taking out our little guy in the later afternoon. But, because I just can’t fight my own need for surprises, I’ve decided to surprise him with the day’s plan in the morning and by rolling out my newly patented Annual Father’s Day Trifecta:
- Time for Self: Garden and Music Time for J
- Time With Family: Car Free Day on Main Street
- Gesture/Keepsake: A piece of handprint art like this
Happy Father’s Day!
